2019 Volkswagen Tiguan vs 2019 Honda CR-V

Though the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan is technically a compact crossover SUV, don’t get carried away by the word “compact.” The current generation of the Tiguan, which was just introduced last year, is big. And we mean that in a good way. This is a vehicle the German automaker created especially for the needs of American buyers.

Not only does the 2019 Tiguan provide plenty of cargo and passenger space- it also offers three rows, making it one of the few compact SUVs to do so. Additionally, even adults over six feet in height will be able to get in and out of the vehicle with ease.

The 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan opens up whole new worlds of cargo and passenger volume. So how does it compare to the 2019 Honda CR-V?

Key Differences Between the Tiguan and CR-V

Aside from offering three rows as opposed to the CR-V’s two, the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan boasts a superior interior (which we detail further down) and infotainment interface. The 2019 Honda CR-V, on the other hand, suffers from a finicky touchscreen.

Additionally, though its starting price appears close to that of the 2019 Tiguan, the base LX trim of the 2019 Honda CR-V is not recommended, as it is a barebones offering and the engine is decidedly underwhelming.

Lush Interior of the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan

Though the exterior styling is what will initially catch your eye, step inside the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan and be truly overwhelmed. The comfortable, quiet interior is loaded with amenities even on the base trim, driving home this crossover SUV's excellent value.

Along with boasting one of the best infotainment systems in the segment, other standard features that we find particularly exciting are Bluetooth, the rearview camera, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, 17-inch wheels, roof rails, heated side mirrors, automatic headlights and comfortable cloth upholstery.

Higher trims add plenty more, including an available Fender premium audio system.
