Summer is a great time to do a lot of outdoor activities. You can go camping with friends, enjoy a day on the lake with your family, and read a book on the porch. Another fun, and popular, activity to do during summer is to go hiking. You might have a favorite place to go hiking or you like to visit different trails. No matter your hiking habits, we’re here today to explore where you can go hiking in the Lincoln, Nebraska area. Read on to find some fun hiking spots!

Public Parks, Trails and Recreational Areas near Lincoln

  1. Wilderness Park Trails. If you like to spend the whole day hiking, this is the perfect trail for you. This trail is a 17.5-mile loop that is a great way to explore the river, local wildlife, and the woods. If you like to go horseback riding or biking too, this trail is open for those activities as well. Dogs are allowed but must remain on a leash the entire time.
  2. Antelope Creek Trail. If you’re looking for a trail that is family-friendly, this trail is a good option. This 2.3-mile loop trail goes around a lake and is great for all skill levels. Benches placed at spots along the trail allow you to take breaks or pause for photos. Dogs can be brought on the trail but must be on a leash.
  3. Billy Wolff Trail. This trail takes you on a 4.1-mile trek from S. 27th Street to S. 70th Street. You will pass through Pansing Park, Roose Park, Antelope Park, and Holmes Lake Park. This trail is friendly for all ages and is a great way to spend the day with family. The northern end has the Folsom Children’s Zoo and Botanical Gardens and the southern end has picnic grounds and places to go fishing.
