A farewell film dedicated to the Volkswagen Beetle
The Volkswagen Beetle has been around for a long time. 70 years to be exact. However, last year Volkswagen announced that they would be ending production of the Volkswagen Beetle. This made the 2019 model the last year that we would get a new Beetle. At the end of 2019, Volkswagen released a tribute to the Beetle as we transitioned into the new year. While the Volkswagen Beetle has seen modern updates year after year, the hatchback still retains all of the vintage charm of the original. Now, it just comes with added amenities and safety. For the 2018 model year, the VW Bug won’t be getting an entire refresh, but we do expect to see some slight changes in trim levels (including a new Coast trim), packages, engines, and standard feature shuffling. 2017 VW #PinkBeetle Breast Cancer Awareness Auction
The first limited-edition VW #PinkBeetle was auctioned off to support breast cancer research and awareness, raising $30,272. Proceeds from the winning bid will benefit the efforts of FAB-U-WISH and the Pink Agenda, two non-profit organizations working in the fight against breast cancer. The organizations raise money for research and care, as well as granting wishes to women undergoing breast cancer treatment. The winner was a 12-year-old breast cancer survivor from California.
The Evolution of the Volkswagen Beetle
The Volkswagen Beetle is one of the oldest nameplates in automotive history and has been an American roadway icon for 67 years. In the U.S., the Beetle, often affectionately called “The Bug”, was sold between 1950 and 1979, with sales resuming again after a newly designed model was released in 1998. Eventually 21 million Beetles would be sold worldwide—and the legacy is still going strong to this day. 2016 Volkswagen Special Edition Dune and Denim Beetles
Volkswagen has officially introduced two special edition Beetles for the 2016 model year—the Beetle Dune and the Beetle Convertible Denim. Both models are meant to be an ode to the unique heritage of the Volkswagen Beetle and everything that helped make the Beetle the loved icon that it is today.
